Closing date: 21 August 2016

Over 150 respondents took part in a community consultation in July/August 2015 to help design new outdoor fitness stations for Yerrabi Pond District Park in Gungahlin and Eddison Park in Phillip.

The equipment each facility will receive has been selected following this community consultation. Both sites will receive a sit up bench, seated rower, leg press, chest press, leg raise and dip bars, and the Gungahlin site will also receive an assisted pull up machine.

This equipment will allow the community to undertake their preferred exercises which were identified as stretching (65%), body pull ups and push ups (64%), tricep dips (58%), sit ups (56%), rowing (53%) and pull ups and leg raises (53%).

The site for both of the fitness stations was also selected by the community. The station at Yerrabi Pond District Park will be in a large open space to the north of the play equipment and at Eddison Park the station will be adjacent to the pedestrian path.

Construction on the new fitness stations is expected to commence in March 2016 and works will be undertaken by The Great Outdoor Gym Company which has delivered outdoor gyms across Australia and the world.

Over 70% of respondents said the new equipment would encourage them to be more active, with people wanting to use it daily (10%), two to three times a week (38%) and weekly (37%).
