Youth justice responsibilities are managed through the Office for Children, Youth and Family Support and include youth justice case management and youth diversionary programs and initiatives that seek to address young people’s offending behaviour, provide positive pathways and support their rehabilitation.

The directorate also manages the Bimberi Youth Justice Centre to provide a safe and secure custodial environment for children and young people aged from 10 to 18 years (and some young people up to the age of 21), who are either remanded in custody or serving a custodial sentence.

The Youth Law Centre ACT provides a free legal and referral service for people aged 12-25 years in Canberra who are in need of assistance or information about legal matters such as problems at school, fines, employment, income support, debt, discrimination, housing and legal rights and responsibilities. Advice is available in person, over the phone or by email.
