Learn to ride centres

Learn to ride centres are open to families, schools, and community groups to teach children from preschool to year 4 how to ride bicycles and scooters safely.

The centres simulate a real road environment that educate children about road safety and develop practical riding skills. It features footpaths, roundabouts, pedestrian crossings, line markings and road signs. Further information is located around the facility that educate children and their parents about road safety when riding and walking.

There are two centres open in Canberra:

Learn to ride course for young cyclists.
Learn to ride centre at Lake Ginninderra.

Before your first visit

Children will need to bring their own bike and/or scooter and a helmet participate in practical activities intended to build riding skills. Children must be supervised by a parent, guardian, or carer.

This centre is suitable for children with a range of skills and needs, including children requiring additional support.

Learn to ride centres are open 7 days a week for daytime use only. Bookings are not required.
