Centre for Australian National Biodiversity Research

Federal Government

The Centre for Australian National Biodiversity Research (CANBR) includes the Australian National Herbarium. These are jointly managed by CSIRO and the Director of National Parks with strong links to the Australian National Botanic Gardens. The Herbarium, with over 1.2 million specimens, is responsible for the scientific integrity of the Gardens' plant labeling and manages the national plant name lists for Australia's botanical community.

The Integrated Botanical Information System (IBIS) is used for all these activities and allows linking of names, photographs, herbarium specimens and living plants.

Conservation Council ACT Region


The Conservation Council is Canberra's peak non-government environment organisation. The Council represent the interests of over 35 community and conservation organisations in the ACT and Australian Capital Region as well as the broader environmental interests of all citizens of the ACT.

Landcare Australia


Landcare Australia works collaboratively with federal, state and local governments, corporate partners and sponsors, and individuals, to deliver hundreds of projects annually through the volunteer efforts of local community groups, indigenous groups, and the more than 5,400 Landcare and Coastcare groups across Australia.

Mulligans Flat Woodland Sanctuary

Mulligans Flat Nature Reserve is situated in the north-east section of the suburb of Gungahlin. Information on its Critically Endangered status, wildlife control, feral animal control, research and monitoring, photos and a time line of ecological protection measures implemented since January 2008.
