Introducing the Canberra Hospital Master Plan
The Canberra Hospital Master Plan was launched on 1 December 2021. The finalisation and launch of the Master Plan is an important milestone in the continual modernisation of the Canberra Hospital campus, and defines a path for development of the site over the coming 20 years.
This transformation, staged over several phases of re-development, will deliver a world leading medical environment to support the best healthcare in the region.
The Master Plan was informed by more than 1,800 pieces of feedback from members of the community, making it one of the largest consultation campaigns ever undertaken in the ACT.
The Master Plan reflects what the community and campus users identified as priorities for our next generation Canberra Hospital.
- A campus that is accessible, safe, people-focused and welcoming.
- The creation of newly defined precincts to make it easier to navigate the campus.
- Improved car and bike parking, pedestrian and cycle paths and public transport accessibility.
- A modern campus that supports the delivery of great health services where and when they are needed.
- Opportunities for more commercial activities for campus users, and expanded private and allied health service delivery.
- Ngunnawal culture woven through the built environment.
- A pathway to net zero emissions by 2040.
