The City Renewal Authority’s City Grants is a funding program for eligible organisations, groups and individuals to support place-making projects in Canberra’s city centre.
The primary objective of City Grants is to develop and support the vitality of Canberra’s city centre through place-making. Around $373,164 in grants were given to 22 recipients for a variety of projects from music festivals and knitting events to public art and temporary installations during round one and two of City Grants 2018. View the list of successful grant recipients for here.
City Grants is funded by the City Centre Marketing and Improvements Levy (CCMIL), a fee paid by property owners in the city centre. As a result, all projects funded through the program must occur within the CCMIL area.
To support projects of various sizes and scales, City Grants consists of a two tier funding model:
Through Tier 1 grants, applicants can apply for up to $10,000 to support their project. The application process for Tier 1 grants is streamlined with less eligibility requirements for applicants and a shorter application form.
Through Tier 2 grants, applicants can apply for between $10,001 and $80,000 to support applications that will have a demonstrably large impact on the city centre. The application process for Tier 2 grants requires strong evidence of planning.
Before applying for funding please review the City Grants Program Guidelines. These have been updated based on your feedback of round one of the City Grants 2018 program.
