Experiment: Dog walking

Experiment: Dog Walking

Haig Park Experiments is designating an unfenced dog-friendly area that will be signposted with water fountains, dog bowls, bags and bins. Playful, small scale dog agility equipment will be provided at regular monthly "Pooches in the Parks" events.

Place plan theme: Health + Fitness – ‘To meet the recreational needs of the local community.’

Date: Commencing mid-June

Observation: Hag Park is an off-leash dog area and there are many current park users who walk their dogs, but limited amenity creates issues with waste. There are also limited amenities for dogs and their owners.

Hypothesis: Better amenity for dog walkers can encourage more responsible owner behaviour regarding waste and improve the user experience for both.

Favourable outcome: Improved amenity for dog walkers, improved user experience for all park users, improved public perception as a dog-friendly destination.

We would love to get your feedback on this experiment. Have YourSay and help to improve Haig Park.
