Haig Park Experiments is commissioning local Canberra artists to create striking entrance features for the park. The artists will explore different methods and mediums so that the features are visible and effective during different times of the day, as well as being weather-resistant. The impact of these entrance features will be tested at different locations over the course of the program.
Place plan theme: Linkages – ‘To strengthen connections into and within the park.’ Dates: Starting mid-June Possible locations: 1. Lonsdale and Mort streets 2. Park streets in Turner 3. Bike path Observation: Haig Park has limited observable points of entry resulting in less usage and a lack of identity. Hypothesis: Striking features provide visible and appealing points of entry creating a sense of curiosity and encouraging people to enter Haig Park. Favourable outcome: Improved footfall and public perception of Haig Park. |
