Community Seating Co-Design

Experiment: Community Seating Co-Design

Haig Park Experiments is commissioning a local designer to work with older people in the local community through a co-design process to create appropriate user-focused furniture. This furniture will be featured at special events, including the Nature Play experiment, to foster intergenerational interactions.

Place plan theme: Infrastructure.

Date: Commencing August.

Observation: Haig Park has limited seating and much of it is not suitable for everyone in the community. The lack of seating creates limited opportunity to spend long periods of time in the park.

Hypothesis: Well-designed seating that accounts for a diversity of users will enable increased dwell time in Haig Park and improve perception of the park’s aesthetics.

Favourable outcome: Greater diversity of users remain in Haig Park and enjoy its amenity. Positive experiences of the park environment generated.

We would love to get your feedback on this experiment. Have YourSay and help to improve Haig Park.
