A Public Health Emergency has been declared in the ACT for the response to the COVID-19 pandemic. See the COVID-19 website for more information.
It’s that time of the year again where the city centre’s flower and plant displays are getting a seasonal refresh! The City Renewal Authority is calling on Canberrans to help extend the life of the existing plants, at a plant giveaway on Wednesday 8 July 2020.
About 1000 plants from the current displays will be on offer including arctotis, viola, osteospermum and carnation (Dianthus) to name a few.
You’re invited to attend the plant giveaway between 11:30am -1pm at Petrie Plaza near the carousel in the city and Latin American Plaza (near Marcus Clarke Street and Childers Street)
On the day
The giveaway will run a bit differently to encourage physical distancing, so please read the following carefully.
There is a booking system to ensure everyone's safety and wellbeing is prioritised. Please ensure you book your time slot and location early so you don't miss out. Walk- ins will not be accepted and all registrations will need to be shown on your mobile upon arrival.
Please arrive at your allocated time. It is recommended that only one person arrives to collect plants, to ensure you are adhering to physical distancing requirements.
On the day, remember to keep 1.5 metres of physical distance between yourself and others, and if you are feeling unwell, stay home. Visit https://www.covid19.act.gov.au/ for all the latest health advice.
There will be a variety of plants available across all locations and we recommend no more than two plants per person so we can share the love around.
The flower displays are an initiative of the City Renewal Authority, made possible through the City Centre Marketing and Improvements Levy.
