A Public Health Emergency has been declared in the ACT for the response to the COVID-19 pandemic. See the COVID-19 website for more information.
Local Yoga with support from the ACT Government under the City Renewal Authority’s City Grants program is offering you the chance to reinvigorate and refresh at a series of free monthly events merging live music and yoga in the heart of Braddon.
‘Lazy Summer Sunday Beats Beers & Yoga’ will be held over four sunny summer Sunday afternoons in Haig Park, where homegrown electronic artists will curate a soundtrack of loops, live music and ambient beats to gently accompany local yogis through an energising, flowing, movement practice under the pines. As the energy and movement slowly stills, live music from local acts will continue to ease you into your afternoon. Your favourite Lonsdale institutions will be popping up to re-hydrate and refuel as the sun slowly disappears over Northbourne Avenue.
The second event is on Sunday 13 December 2020 starting at 4:00pm in Haig Park – directly at the end of Lonsdale St. With live loops and beats from local turntablist and multi-instrumentalist Alex Carder providing the perfect soundtrack to a flowing Local Yoga class perfect for any age and all skill levels. Musical guest Reverend Bones will be making his return as the the good folks from Bentspoke and the Pop-Inn will be on hand, providing a selection of locally sourced beverages to wash it all down.
Local Yoga was conceived as a practical way to support Canberrans in the aftermath of the 2020 bushfires and COVID pandemic. Not to be confused with a yoga studio, Local Yoga is a collection of local people, local spaces and local businesses committed to improving our local community’s mental and physical well-being through accessible yoga initiatives that directly raise awareness and support for local community services. Local Yoga provides free fundraising yoga classes – physical and online – in addition to events featuring yoga and live music, as a way to encourage Canberrans to use their own unique abilities to positively influence the space around them.
This event is being delivered with support from the ACT Government under the City Renewal Authority’s City Grants program and will be held with a strict adherence to social distancing and COVID safety plans.
