It was that time of the year again where the city centre’s flower and plant displays got a seasonal refresh! The City Renewal Authority called upon Canberrans to help extend the life of the existing plants, at a plant giveaway on Wednesday 26 August 2020.

1000 plants given away in Civic

About 1000 plants are available to be rehomed as the city centre’s flower displays are getting their latest seasonal refresh.

Canberrans can give a new home to our outgoing plants at a giveaway on Thursday, 12 March.

Plants available include be on offer, including Beyond Blues (plum), Mambos (blue), Cora Cascades (magenta), Streams (white, rose, lavender), Mystic Spires (Blue), Serenitas (purple), Frescos (pink and purple), Bellezas (white) and Pacific Sunrise and Sunsets.

Enlighten in Civic 2020

The Sydney and Melbourne Buildings will be illuminated with the work of two Canberra artists during this year’s Enlighten Festival.

The historic buildings that mark the entry to the city centre are being illuminated from February 28 until 9 March with five bold and colourful illuminations, two each from Jodie Cunningham and George Rose, and one created from the neon shapes from the festival’s 2020 branding.

Evening performances and activities will take place around the buildings during this period to help connect the city centre with the festival.

City Renewal Authority wins Best Planning Ideas - Small Project category at Planning Institute of Australia ACT awards night

The City Renewal Authority team and collaborators were awarded the Planning Excellence Award for Best Planning Ideas – Small Project at the recent Planning Institute of Australia awards night on Friday 25 October 2019. The award recognised the Authority’s place planning approach to community led renewal for Braddon, Dickson and Haig Park.
