People celebrated the launch of Christmas in Civic on Friday 6 December 2019, with the unveiling of a kaleidoscopic Christmas tree. It shimmered during the day and lit up at night.
As well as the new Christmas tree, there were traditional log cabins with free activities such as cookie making and bauble decorating. You could even take a selfie with Santa, who was out and about for the evening, and cool off with free slushies. For people who didn't have a tree at home yet, Santa’s Shaped Christmas Tree pop-up shop will be onsite where you could purchase a Christmas tree for pick up or order one for home delivery.
From Saturday 7 December was a fantastic program of Christmas activities in Garema Place and around the city centre, with events and activities such as letter writing and bauble making, lantern making, theatrical performances, a public art treasure hunt, Christmas choir performances, musical Christmas mashups and a truly unique visit from Santa.
