ACT Government Chief Engineer Strategic Directions (2022-25)

The objectives of the ACT Chief Engineer are to provide strategic advice on infrastructure projects, to advocate for the role of engineering and to ensure the ACT Government has the relevant engineering skills to deliver high quality engineering outcomes to make Canberra one of the world’s most liveable city.

To achieve this vision the Chief Engineer will:

1. Support the safe delivery of infrastructure
2. Provide leadership on sustainability in the built environment
3. Promote the advantages of a digital transformation
4. Advocate for engineering in its broadest sense
5. Engage with industry to facilitate collaboration across the infrastructure supply chain, and
6. Support the engineering cohort of the ACTPS.

ACT Government Mentoring Guidelines (2022)

The ACT Government highly values its engineering workforce and is committed to further investing in the development of the cohort to ensure it continues to reach its full potential.

ACT Government Engineering Workforce Plan (2020)

The ACT Government Engineering Workforce Plan has been created to attract, develop and retain the engineering workforce required to deliver the infrastructure program for the Canberra region.

ACT Government Engineering Workforce Framework (2020)

The ACT Government Engineering Workforce Framework supports Directorates to incorporate engineering requirements into their workforce plans, including identifying current skill shortages.
