Canberra on track to become solar capital
Construction is now underway on the ACT’s second large-scale solar farm on the corner of Mugga Lane and the Monaro Highway.
The solar park includes ground mounted solar panels that track the sun throughout the day, generating approximately 24,500 megawatt-hours of power per year in the first year that will be enough energy to power 3,000 Canberra homes.
The goal is for 90 percent of Canberra’s electricity supply to come from a renewable source by 2020, contributing to a 40% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.
