Motorists in Braddon, Civic and Woden benefit from Parking Meter Replacement Program
Under the new parking meter replacement program, solar powered pay and display parking machines will replace existing parking meters in Braddon, Civic and Woden making parking fees cheaper.
The replacement program aims to ensure more consistent and equitable pricing for parking in ACT Government parking areas.
A two hour parking fee in Braddon and Civic will cost $4.80, which is a saving of $1.20 compared to current fees.
Parking time limits in Lonsdale and Mort Streets Braddon will also increase to two hours for the convenience of customers doing business in the area.
Parking fees will also be cheaper in Woden. A two hour parking fee will cost $4.30, a saving of $1.70 compared to current fees.
The new pay and display parking machines will be a significant improvement on the old coin operated meters. Motorists will have the advantage of paying by cash (coin only), credit card, or via the ParkMobile app in all of the pay parking areas operated by the ACT Government.
In addition, all pay and display parking machines are being upgraded over the coming months to include ‘tap and go’ technology for a faster and more convenient method of payment.
The installation of pay and display parking machines in Braddon, Civic and Woden began in February 2016 and machines are expected to be operational by the end of the month.
