An upgrade for Canberra’s premier ballpark

Canberra’s premier ballpark at Narrabundah will be upgraded to improve amenities, deliver a better spectator experience and attract new fans to the sport.

The upgrade will realign the playfield, refurbish the grandstand and improve public amenities, access and car parking. Community engagement will occur over the coming months, with construction of the stage two upgrade to commence once the design has been completed.

These improvements follow the $1.4 million upgrade to the playing field in 2010, which enabled the Canberra Cavalry to join the Australian Baseball League by bringing the facility to a professional game standard.

The Cavalry have enjoyed enormous success since joining the Australian Baseball League in 2010, which has inspired many Canberrans to swing a bat or put on a glove for the first time.

There are six baseball clubs in Canberra that provide numerous opportunities to be involved in the sport, and along with a thriving summer social competition, local participation in baseball is continuing to increase as Canberrans of all ages give baseball a try.
