Better digital systems for schools in Canberra

Teacher and students

Parents and carers will soon be able to interact with their child's school more efficiently with a new digital school administration system set to come online by over the next three years.

The new system will streamline the school enrolment process, ensuring parents and carers only input key details once. The amount of paper forms being sent home with children will also be reduced with permission slips, consent forms and payments all able to be submitted using the new online system.

Parents and carers can also expect to access academic reports online and receive faster absence notifications sent directly to their personal devices.

The system builds on the successful digital services already available in Canberra Public Schools including world leading high speed internet and the implementation of Google Apps for Education. Schools will be able to drive continued improvement with easier access to data, as well as improve their efficiency through automated workflows.

The system development is anticipated to commence from early 2017 and be implemented across schools over a three-year period. Up to $10 million will be allocated to the new system from the 2016/17 Budget.
