My kitchen rules at Narrabundah Early Childhood School

Families and students are cooking up a fun and delicious storm at Narrabundah Early Childhood School thanks to an ACT Government Health Promotion Innovation Grant.

The school worked with the Tuggeranong Child and Family Centre to develop the Freshen-Up program which offers Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families an opportunity to participate in a healthy cooking program.

Families plan, prepare, taste and get creative with fresh produce in the school kitchen, led by a skilled nutritionist from Nutrition Australia and supported by Fyshwick Fresh Fruit Markets. They also get to take a meal home with them following each session.

Health Promotion Innovation Grants provide funds to projects that aim to reduce obesity, reduce smoking and alcohol-related harm, and support healthy ageing in Canberra.
