Parking patrols go high tech

If you are tempted to overstay your parking time limit this summer, don’t!

New licence plate recognition technology has been rolled out across Canberra, which can inspect more than 500 vehicles per hour. The technology is mounted in a car and takes infrared photos to electronically chalk cars and their licence plates.

This new technology is freeing up more parking spaces and allowing foot patrol inspectors to target illegal and unsafe parking.
