Information session: Exiting the ACT greyhound racing industry

Greyhound dog

The ACT Government has committed to ending greyhound racing in the Territory in response to community concerns about animal welfare and the unacceptable risks that the industry poses to greyhounds.

A  Greyhound Industry Transition Taskforce has been established to support people, businesses and dogs exiting the ACT greyhound racing industry. The Taskforce is currently accepting expressions of interest from those seeking support, with the transition period to be completed by 30 June 2018.

An information session will be held on Tuesday 19 September to provide information about the re-homing of greyhounds and the support available to people exiting the industry, which could include counselling, re-training, specialist business and career advice as well as financial support.

To RSVP for the information session, email greyhoundtaskforce@act.gov.au.
