A cat contained in their owners backyard.

With new legislation now in effect, residents in Macnamara, Strathnairn, Ginninderry and Gungahlin Town Centre East are reminded that these areas are now also subject to cat containment regulation.
Cat containment means that cat owners must keep their cats contained on their properties as many Canberra suburbs are close to nature reserves.
Cat containment does not only help to protect our native wildlife, cats that are contained have a longer life expectancy as they are less likely to be injured or become sick.
Other Canberra suburbs which already have cat containment rules in place include:
- Denman Prospect
- The Fair at Watson
