Your guide to getting to Floriade 2018
Floriade is Australia’s biggest celebration of spring and the iconic Canberra event has always drawn big crowds. This year will be no exception, but there are lots of options to help make getting to this popular festival a walk in the park.
Floriade will run from Saturday 15 September until Sunday 14 October, open daily from 9.30am – 5.30pm. Visitors to Floriade can walk, ride bikes, catch public transport, drive, taxi or rideshare to Commonwealth Park to see more than one million flowers in bloom.
Parking at Acton Park across from Commonwealth Park is limited. Floriade is an easy walk from parking options in the Parliamentary Triangle, London Circuit, NewActon, the Canberra Centre, CIT Reid or the National Convention Centre.
Public parking for people with limited mobility is available adjacent to the Regatta Point entrance (access off Commonwealth Ave). Parking is limited and vehicles must display an authorized disability permit. Pick-up and set-down at the Regatta Point Entry Gate is also permitted for less mobile passengers.
Riding and skating
If you want to ride your bike or strap on some skates and glide to Floriade there are options for securing your means of transportation. Bicycles and tricycles may be parked at the bicycle racks provided at the Parkes Way and Regatta Point entrance to Floriade. Make sure you bring your own chain and lock.
Roller blades, roller skates, skateboards and hand propelled tricycles may be stored inside the entry booths by Floriade staff.
Free Shuttle Bus
A free shuttle bus will operate all 30 days of Floriade courtesy of the Canberra Centre. Stopping at select city locations, the shuttle bus will make round trips from the Canberra Centre to Floriade daily, between the hours of 10am – 6pm.
Transport Canberra buses to Floriade
Transport Canberra Buses can take you to Floriade with a number of routes servicing Commonwealth Avenue near to the event.
Transport Canberra’s Blue Rapid 300 series operate from Belconnen, City, Woden, and Tuggeranong Bus Stations with high frequency, providing easy access to Commonwealth Park via stops 8888 and 8889 on Commonwealth Avenue.
If you are travelling from Gungahlin to Floriade you can catch a 200 Red Rapid into the City before transferring onto a Blue Rapid 300 service. Both of these services operate on weekdays and weekends.
Bus services to Floriade via the bus stops on Commonwealth Avenue depart from Platform 1 at the City Bus Station. Commonwealth Park is also an approximate 1km walk from the City Bus Station, via the footbridge over Parkes Way. You could also try Park & Ride.

Transport Canberra buses to NightFest
Floriade’s NightFest runs over five nights from Wednesday 26 September until Sunday 30 September 2018. Transport Canberra’s Blue Rapid routes continue to provide access via Commonwealth Avenue on weekdays and Saturday nights.
