CIT leads Canberra's first Zero CO2 Renewable Energy and Sustainability Forum

CIT Students at the Forum CIT hosts Canberra's first Zero CO2 Renewable Energy and Sustainability Forum.

Did you know that Canberra is a national leader in renewable energy generation and is on track to transition to 100% renewable energy by 2020?

To support this transition, a two-day forum was led by CIT in early March, to discuss critical environmental issues facing our community. The forum was held in partnership with the ACT Government, Neoen and the Canberra Innovation Network.

Leading industry and academic experts discussed key issues facing climate change, the environment and community, and showcased the technological responses and the applications that individuals can adopt in their own lives and work.

The forum also included a Hackathon where nine teams were challenged to come up with innovative renewable energy or sustainability solutions to help reduce CO2 emissions. The winning team, Solar Campus, received a $15,000 prize comprised of cash and in-kind support to help accelerate their winning idea into market.
