Looking after cats in Canberra

A cat laying on a lounge inside. Have your say on how we manage cats in the ACT.

Did you know that one in four houses in Canberra owns a cat?

Cats are an important member of our community. They provide love and companionship to so many of us. It's important to provide our furry friends with safe and happy homes to better protect them and our native wildlife.

A Draft ACT Cat Plan has been released to allow Canberra cat-owners and non-owners to have their say on how to better manage cats in the ACT for their health, welfare and safety. The draft plan also focuses on how we can better protect vulnerable native wildlife from roaming cats.

You can have your say by taking a short survey, sending a written submission or attending an information session. For more information, visit www.yoursay.act.gov.au

Consultation closes on Friday 28 June 2019.
