Snow gums at the Mount Bimbiri Woodlands.
23 April 2019
The ACT’s woodlands cover more than 79,000 hectares, providing a home to a diverse array of plant species and native animals.
If you are interested in helping to protect our woodlands, you are invited to have your say on a new ACT Native Woodland Conservation Strategy. The new strategy will replace the current Lowland Woodland Conservation Strategy, and will guide the protection, restoration and management of Canberra's precious lowland and subalpine woodlands for the next 10 years.
The strategy identifies how to:
- manage threats
- safeguard threatened species
- enhance woodlands’ resilience, ecosystem function and connectivity
- undertake monitoring and research
- work with the community and other partners.

The strategy is open for community comment until 24 May 2019.
