The Kambah Village shopping centre has had a revamp, bringing with it more car parking, new gardens, a barbecue, picnic seating, an expanded playground and the city’s first ‘splash pad’ (pictured).

Kambah is the largest suburb in Canberra. The completed works and planned future development will ensure the centre meets the community’s everyday shopping and recreational needs well into the future.

The playground upgrades include new play equipment, including a basket swing, slides, a climbing frame and trampolines, as well as a new shade sail to provide coverage over high use play areas.

The new splash pad features fountains bubbling up from the ground, to keep children cool during the warmer months.

There are also new toilets, more seating, extra car parking, improved pedestrian lighting and path connections and a new irrigated grassed area.

The latter will become a shaded gathering space including 31 new trees, new gardens, a barbecue, shelter and picnic tables and seating.

These upgrades focused on the public areas around the South-East of the shops.

Complementing these works, a private development to expand the Woolworths has just been approved by the ACT Planning and Land Authority and is ready for construction.

This will include a new covered Northern entranceway to the shops and extra retail spaces.
