Works on the duplication of Gundaroo Drive are expected to be complete in mid-2020.

Work is underway on Canberra roads to better connect regions, improve safety and manage traffic growth.

Better roads for Tuggeranong

Upgrades to the Monaro Highway will aim to improve road safety with a consistent 100km/h speed limit along the highway.

Design work has commenced on Athllon Drive for a future duplication between Sulwood Drive and Drakeford Drive, as well as between Shea Street and Melrose Drive. This work is expected to be completed by mid-2021.

Gundaroo Drive update

Works are continuing on the duplication of Gundaroo Drive.

Four lanes have opened to traffic between Nudurr Drive and the Barton Highway, and  work is underway between Nudurr Drive  and Gungahlin Drive.

It is expected to be complete in mid-2020.

Better connecting Belconnen & Gungahlin

Plans are underway to duplicate the major arterial road between Belconnen and Gungahlin. It will become a dual carriageway making commuting easier.

Key features of the planned duplication include:

  • two lanes in each direction between Ginninderra Drive and the Barton Highway
  • 6.4 kilometres of new on-road cycle lanes
  • new signals at the Dumas Street intersection
