06 June 2019

Fadden Primary was awarded the Innovation Award at the 2018 Actsmart Schools Sustainability Awards.

Fadden Primary's Year 6 Green Team achieved a marked reduction in waste through a new waste management system that successfully changed the school’s culture and awareness of sustainability.

The Green Team supported all students by running workshops and conducting bin checks, and trained the Year 5 students to take over.

The awards celebrate excellence in the Actsmart Schools focus areas;

  • waste and recycling management
  • efficient use of energy
  • actions to address water use and quality
  • improvements to school grounds and biodiversity and
  • the inclusion of sustainability within the curriculum.
