Garran Primary School was awarded the School of the Year award in the 2018 Actsmart Schools Sustainability Awards.

Garran Primary's students have driven sustainable initiatives through nominated Eco-Rangers and Eco-Detectives who make sure students are saving energy in the classrooms. As a result, the school has received a 5 Star rating across each of the five focus areas.

The awards celebrate excellence in the Actsmart Schools focus areas;

  • waste and recycling management
  • efficient use of energy
  • actions to address water use and quality
  • improvements to school grounds and biodiversity and
  • the inclusion of sustainability within the curriculum.
