The Canberra Region’s tourism industry punched well above its weight bringing home gold, silver and bronze from the recent 2018 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards.

The awards celebrate Australia’s leading tourism operators for outstanding customer service, innovation and ongoing business excellence.

A Gold award for Destination Marketing went to Pie Time - Southern Highlands NSW, while Silver awards were presented to National Gallery of Australia for Major Tourist Attraction and Canberra and Region Visitors Centre in the Visitor Information Services category.

National Zoo & Aquarium’s Jamala Wildlife Lodge won bronze for Unique Accommodation and Leumeah Lodge won bronze in the Standard Accommodation category.

VisitCanberra Director Jonathan Kobus said the award wins are great recognition for the Canberra region tourism industry.

“Our award-winning Canberra and Region Visitors Centre at Regatta Point is the perfect place to visit to discover the wide variety of experiences on offer to both visitors and locals,” he said.

“You can also pick up a great range of local merchandise include Canberra District wine, beer and spirits, produce and gifts.”
