Question, Persuade and Refer (QPR) training is now available in the ACT and forms part of a wider pool of mental health training programs.

QPR is a 60-minute free online training course that can be undertaken in multiple sessions. It enables Canberrans over the age of 18 to better understand the warning signs and behaviours that can lead to someone taking their own life. In addition, an individual who has finished QPR can continue to access the program for three years to refresh their skills and knowledge.

The course specifically targets people that may not have an assumed knowledge of mental health or suicide prevention. Its content aims to provide people with the skills to connect at-risk individuals with professional support.

The QPR training is part of the LifeSpan integrated suicide prevention framework to help strengthen support services for people facing suicidal crisis.

It presents a great opportunity for anyone in our community to help make a difference and educate themselves in suicide prevention.

To register for the QPR program head to the Capital Health Network.
