Keeping young people healthy and looking after their wellbeing is important for everyone.

The ACT Government is planning the implementation of a new Year 7 Health Check to improve the overall health and wellbeing of our young people.

The program would monitor risk factors for chronic diseases (overweight and obesity) and assess the emotional wellbeing of High School students across the ACT.

It will be made up of two parts:

  • Weight and height measurements to assess healthy weight status. Measurements will be recorded by trained staff in a private area and results can’t be seen or heard by anyone.
  • Electronic survey. The survey will evaluate emotional wellbeing and associated risk factors such as screen time, activity levels, nutrition and hydration.
