Advanced Practice Nurse Kirsty Cummin.
26 November 2019
When the Weston Creek Walk-in Centre opens its doors to the community next month, Advanced Practice Nurse Kirsty Cummin will be among the experienced staff on hand to care for visiting patients.
Ms Cummin, who will be clinical manager for the new centre, has worked in nursing for 23 years. She has until recently served as clinical manager at the Gungahlin Walk-in Centre, so is well prepared for the task ahead.
“We have a great team who provide safe, timely and high quality health care to people with minor injuries and illnesses,” Ms Cummin says.
Patients with an interest in rocks and volcanoes will discover they have something in common with Ms Cummin, who has also completed a geology degree.
“As with all sciences, work as an Advanced Practice Nurse is about problem solving, critical analysis and accurate decision-making,” Ms Cummin says.
“It’s a privilege to be able to use my experience and skills to help Canberrans every day.”
The Weston Creek Walk-in Centre is next to Cooleman Court on Parkinson Street. As with the existing Walk-in Centres in Gungahlin, Belconnen and Tuggeranong, its services will be free. Opening hours are from 7.30 am to 10 pm daily, including public holidays.
A fifth Walk-in Centre will open in Dickson in 2020.
