Christmas is coming and the festive spirit is alive and well in Canberra. Check out the events the city has planned for the month.
Christmas Lunch at the Conservatory: Monday, 25 November to Tuesday, December 24
Enjoy Christmas lunch at the Aboretum, starting from $49 per person for a two-course lunch or $59 per person for a three-course lunch. Includes a glass of bubbles.
Christmas Village in Garema Place: Friday, 6 December
See Canberra's CBD come alive with the festive spirit to celebrate Christmas from 4pm to 9pm. The night will provide the first opportunity to see the city's new Kaleidoscopic Christmas Tree and there will be plenty of free family fun in a traditional Christmas village in Garema Place.
Visit a log cabin for cookie decorating, bauble making and Santa snow cones or take a selfie with Santa - while it 'snows' around you. The Kaleidoscopic Christmas Tree will remain on display throughout the holiday season.

Handmade Markets: Friday to Sunday, 6-8 December
Come and view all of Handmade Australian artisans all under one roof. Three halls at Exhibition Park in Canberra will be packed with unique designs and local produce. Entry is free and parking is free. If you’re looking for unique gifts and souvenirs, designer homewares, bespoke fashion or intricate jewellery, Handmade has over 270 stalls of artisan Australian pieces.
The Christmas Market also includes a twilight event, from 5pm until 9pm on Friday, 6 December. The markets will also run from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, 7 December and Sunday, 8 December.

Lanyon Homestead Christmas Carols and Picnic: Saturday, 7 December
Enjoy a picnic in the beautiful Lanyon gardens and sing along with the Sing Australia Choir and Tuggeranong Valley Band as the sun sets over the Brindabellas. Take a tour of the homestead decorated for a nineteenth century Christmas and lit with candles. Children and families can participate in crafts and games from a bygone era, making a 19th century style spice scented Pomander to hang on the Christmas tree, a colourful Christmas crown to wear, and play Victorian era games like hoopla and skittles.

Canberra Christmas Market: Saturday to Sunday, 7-8 December
The Canberra Christmas Market is one of the capital's biggest and best. Over two days, shoppers will uncover wonderful gifts, specialty items and gourmet foods from more than 90 stallholders - a one-stop shop for all your Christmas needs.
Gather family and friends and get into the Christmas spirit. Listen to wonderful carols. Meet Santa. Get the kids to help decorate gingerbread houses. Celebrate the most special time of the year. Entry to the Canberra Christmas Market is free. It's located indoors at the Fitzroy Pavilion, Exhibition Park in Canberra.
Old Bus Depot Markets: Saturday and Sunday, 14-15 December and Saturday and Sunday, 21-22 December
The Old Bus Depot Markets, which run every Sunday throughout the year, have added some extra dates for Christmas. On Saturday, 14 December and Sunday, 15 December from 10am to 4pm take the family to the Christmas Kids' market. There will be a jumping castle, a hilarious elf show, and plenty of other entertainment. Spread the merriment and joy as we count down the days til' Christmas. Don't forget to grab some adorable Christmas presents while you're there.
On Saturday, 21 December and Sunday, 22 December from 10am to 4pm 'tis the season to do some last-minute shopping. as part of the markets' Super Christmas Weekend. You’ll find stalls with all kinds of speciality items. There will also be holiday-themed high-quality handcrafts to make for the perfect Christmas present. Indulge in a vibrant market atmosphere and enjoy the weekend with friends and family.

Canberra's 75th Carols by Candlelight: Saturday, 14 December
To be held at Stage 88, Commonwealth Park from 7pm to 9.30pm, this year the nominated charity will be the Anglicare Youth Engagement Programme for Indigenous young people in the Canberra Region. This programme provides scholarships to enable young people to complete their secondary schooling and go on to either vocational training or tertiary studies.
Why not join the hundreds of carollers who choose to come early, get the best parks and enjoy dinner with friends and family on the lawns? You can pack a picnic and are welcome to pack your own alcohol. Anglicare will be running a sausage sizzle to add to the fund raising on the night. Soft drinks will also be available. You can also buy from one of our food vendors with 15% of all sales from food vendors going straight to our charity.

Carols in Town Park, Tuggeranong: Sunday, 15 December
Sit back in Tuggeranong Town Park on Sunday, 15 December, as the community comes together to celebrate the festive season with Carols in Town Park. Entertainment includes artists such as Amber Nichols, Lucy Sugerman and Tory Nikias.
There will also be an array of amusement rides, pony rides, farm animals, jumping castles and face painting – it’s all free. Community Carols are an initiative of The Salvation Army and includes support from the Canberra Community Voices Choir and Salvation Army musicians.
Christmas Belles at the Arboretum: Thursday, 19 December
Celebrate the festive season with a Christmas al fresco three-course dinner under the stars in the Discovery Garden from 5.30pm-10pm. Join award-winning Chef Janet Jeffs to eat and drink your way around the best the season has to offer.
Dinner will feature a Christmas menu, canapés, share platters and drinks on the night accompanied by live acoustic music by Nick Rigby. Sydney Thunder v Adelaide Strikers BBL: Saturday, 21 December
The Sydney Thunder are taking their opening home match to fans in the ACT. Some of the world’s best cricketers will be showcasing their abilities at Manuka Oval from 6pm, with spectators enjoying the thrill of the Big Bash League.
