Reducing the risk for our new and young drivers and help them gain experience and confidence on our roads.

From 1 January 2020,  a range of changes will come into effect to better prepare and help protect our new drivers.

These  include:

  • Required supervised driving hours for learners
  • A new hazard perception test
  • Two P plate stages
  • L and P plate drivers will only have up to four demerit points
  • Late-night passenger restrictions for red P plate drivers

Don't forget that a FULL MOBILE DEVICE BAN for L and P plate drivers is already in force.
