State of Alert in place in the ACT
A State of Alert has been declared for the ACT. Information on what this means, what you need to do, support available and government service changes can be found on the Emergency Services Agency website.
Heavy smoke from bushfires burning in NSW is currently impacting the ACT
A change in wind direction has caused the smoke to blow across the ACT region.

Making our roads safer for new drivers
Reducing the risk for our new and young drivers and help them gain experience and confidence on our roads.
From 1 January 2020, a range of changes will come into effect to better prepare and help protect our new drivers.
- Required supervised driving hours for learners
- A new hazard perception test
- Two P plate stages
- L and P plate drivers will only have up to four demerit points
- Late-night passenger restrictions for red P plate drivers
Don't forget that a FULL MOBILE DEVICE BAN for L and P plate drivers is already in force.
