A new service is on its way to support recently arrived migrants, refugees and asylum seekers moving to Canberra.

The service is called the Integrated Welcome to Canberra Support Service and aims to assist newly arrived Canberrans settle in their new community.

The key services to be provided under the Welcome to Canberra Support Service are:

  • the development of a Welcome to Canberra information pack in hardcopy and digital formats with links to a range of support services;
  • personalised case support for new Canberrans to assist them access services; and
  • a ‘Welcome to Canberra’ forum held twice a year to connect recently arrived migrants, refugees and asylum seekers with the broader community and services.

Canberra joined the global Welcoming Cities network on Harmony Day earlier this year. Membership reflects our commitment to including all Canberrans in our social, cultural, economic and civic life.
