The nearly 40,000sqm new facility will enable Canberra Hospital to continue to meet the needs of the growing city and region.

A bigger and better Canberra Hospital is one step closer with the ACT Government announcing that it has partnered with contractor Multiplex on the Canberra Hospital Expansion project.
It will offer more operating rooms, emergency treatment spaces and intensive care beds as part of the new purpose-built emergency and critical care building.
Modern facilities for medical practice and training will also attract more nurses and doctors to Canberra, boosting the ACT’s healthcare in the long term.
The ACT Government’s partnership with Multiplex is an important milestone which keeps the project on track to be delivered by 2024.
The construction will create about 500 jobs for Canberrans, including local trainees and apprentices.
With the current pandemic, the need for high-quality healthcare facilities has never been more important.
Multiplex is well-known for their work on major hospital projects around the world. The ACT Government has previously worked with Multiplex to deliver the state-of-the-art University of Canberra Hospital at Belconnen.
