The Beanies will be entertaining little ones virtually with Floriade Sprouts
25 August 2020
A reimagined Floriade sees the annual spring celebration move from its traditional home in Commonwealth Park to bloom across Canberra’s suburbs.
One million bulbs and annuals will create a tulip trail through the ACT’s suburbs and city. The Floriade: Reimagined horticultural team and more than 90 community groups have planted blooms across the city to enable the community to connect safely while public health restrictions are in place.
This year’s festival will also include a program of Floriade experiences, which can be experienced both virtually and in-person.
From 12 September to 11 October 2020, fans can enjoy a limited number of live events as well as on-demand virtual experiences to keep gardens green and minds inspired.
Sure to be crowd favourites are four live Let’s Talk sessions, which will feature local personalities chatting to ABC presenter Dan Bourchier on topics ranging from gardening to food sustainability.
The Sunday Sessions at Cockington Green and Lanyon Homestead will entertain the whole family with gnome painting, potting-up workshops and live music.
Learn how to capture the beauty, colour and spirit of the Floriade: Reimagined tulip trail with photography workshops held in small, in-person groups.
Challenge your children to decode cryptic clues with a Territory-wide gnome hunt and get creative with the Canberra Centre’s school craft project. Young fans can be inspired with the Floriade Sprouts on-demand videos, where kids can join The Beanies to learn about bees, art, planting and gnomes.
Enjoy the taste and style of Canberra’s spring celebration delivered straight to your door with the virtual marketplace, which will showcase over 80 of Floriade’s favourite traders and new makers.
Floriade lovers can even make time for mindfulness with downloadable colouring-in designs created by local artists, or extend their horticultural knowledge with gardening tips and tricks.
