During the school term school zones will be in operation from 8am to 4pm on weekdays.

On Monday, 3 February, school goes back - and you’ll notice improvements around some Canberra schools.

These include new footpath connections, refuge islands, speed humps and children’s crossings, some with school crossing supervisors.

Parents should familiarise their child with their school route so they can confidently and safely walk, ride or catch the bus or light rail each day.

Make sure your child has a MyWay card that is registered and topped up with sufficient funds. A MyWay card is easy to get and will save you money. Children will also need to carry their student ID on buses and light rail.

Remember, school zones are also in operation from 8am to 4pm on weekdays, so make sure you slow down to 40km/h during the ACT school term.

Also ensure you park safely and legally around our schools – this supports the safety of our kids and other road users.

The ACT Government remains committed to a ‘Vision Zero’ approach to safety, which means we would like to see an end to fatalities and serious injuries on the ACT’s roads.
