A morning concert in Commonwealth Park to raise funds for those impacted by bushfires will be the focus of Canberra’s Australia Day celebrations.

This event will replace the annual fireworks show along the lake. Changes to the format and location of the event were made given the ongoing impacts of the bushfires in our region.

What: Bushfire Relief Concert for Australia Day

When: 10am – 1pm, Sunday 26 January 2020

Where: Stage 88, Commonwealth Park

The concert will provide an opportunity for Canberrans to gather their friends and family and enjoy good food and great music while helping raise funds for those impacted by the bushfires. St Vincent de Paul’s Society, the Wildlife Rescue Service (WIRES) and Lifeline have been selected as the charities participating in Sunday’s event

Entertainment will include performances from Australian indie-pop musicians Japanese Wallpaper and Nicole Millar, supported by Canberra’s own Monica Moore. There will also be a variety of food trucks and family-friendly amusements.

Australia Day is an opportunity for us to acknowledge the many Australians who are currently engaged in efforts to reduce the harm and trauma caused by bushfires this season.

The ACT Government is committed to ensuring that our event is inclusive and respectful, recognising that it is held on Ngunnawal land.
