Healthy workplaces are more important than ever in the challenging times Canberrans have faced this year. We’ve gone through a lot - from bushfires and hailstorms to COVID-19, so it’s fair to say 2020 has unsettled and disrupted our local community including our businesses and workforce.

Canberra workplaces have been recognised for their commitment to health and wellbeing in these difficult times in Healthier Work’s 2019-20 Case Study Book.

The book highlights how innovative local businesses are improving health and wellbeing in their workplaces, from simple samples such as introducing a ‘shout your mate a coffee’ initiative, encouraging team activities at lunch time and hosting virtual morning teas, right through to significant changes to workplace policies, facilities and work design principles.

The Healthier Work program provides free support to local businesses to develop and implement annual health and wellbeing plans, acknowledging the role that workplaces can play in protecting and promoting the health, safety and wellbeing of our community.

Through the Healthier Work Recognition Scheme, businesses advance in status each year that they commit to workplace health and wellbeing. Healthier Work is currently supporting around 67 local businesses.

Healthy workers are more productive, engaged, committed and happy, both at work and in their personal lives.

So if you’re interested to find out more about healthy work practices, you can find the Case Study Book on the Healthier Work website.
