Cafes are doing it. So is your local supermarket, hairdresser, bakery and government services.
Cashless payment is an easy way to pay for everything from a coffee to your weekly groceries.
Keeping our community safe could be as simple as keeping those coins in your pocket or that cash in your wallet and tapping and going.
Many Canberra businesses and organisations have moved to cashless transactions, during COVID-19. It’s an easy way to support good hand hygiene as well as reduce contact.
Canberrans are now encouraged to try cashless parking for short and long stay parking at the 16,500 paid parking spots across the Territory.
You’ll see the bright purple stickers next time you park in an ACT Government parking space reminding you to go cashless by:
- using a Visa or Mastercard
- paying via the Parkmobile app
- or purchasing a pre-paid multi-day parking ticket (weekly or monthly).
Cashless is quicker, easier and safer but for some people cash may be their only option and that’s ok.
ACT Government staff will also appreciate your switch to cashless as it minimises the coins they need to handle. That’s why Access Canberra Service Centres are also cashless.
Remember 15-minute free parking spaces are currently operating around restaurant and café precincts to support businesses and services at this time.
If you need more information about pay parking in the ACT visit the Access Canberra website.
