Are you feeling unwell? Never hesitate to call ‘000’ for an ambulance or visit the emergency department if you or someone in your family has an immediate life-threatening condition such as:
- difficulty breathing
- chest pain
- severe trauma
- allergic reactions
- head, neck or eye injuries.
Our emergency departments have precautions in place to protect the community during the current COVID-19 situation.
If you need health care for non-urgent medical issues, please call ahead and make an appointment with your doctor or GP, if you:
- are sick
- have an existing medical condition and you need a check up
- need to have a check up to make sure you don’t have any health problems
- need immunisations to protect you or your family.
For treatment of minor illness and injury (like colds and flu, cuts and sprains, bites and stings), you can go to a Walk-in Centre between 7.30am and 10.00pm on any day of the year.
If you feel unwell but aren’t sure what to do, you can call HealthDirect for advice on 1800 022 222 any time. You can also find health services information online at HealthDirect.
Remember to also check in on your elderly relatives and friends - give them a call to make sure they’re doing ok.
