With Canberrans spending more time at home, there has been a big increase in families deciding to adopt a dog.

Staff have certainly seen an increase in interest in the dogs at the shelter in Symonston, with available dogs for rehoming being adopted quite quickly once available.

When you adopt a dog from Domestic Animal Services, you’ll have peace of mind knowing your new best friend has passed a temperament test, is in good health and is microchipped.

Staff are always available to provide expert advice on your responsibilities involved with owning a dog and can help you choose the right dog for your individual needs.

You can view the dogs currently at the shelter on the City Services website. It is also recommended to call Domestic Animal Services ahead to check which dogs are available as the situation changes quickly.
