In less than two months, the Check In CBR app has recorded more than 1700 venue registrations and nearly 33,000 downloads.

The app was launched on 9 September to provide a contactless, secure and convenient way for customers to sign into Canberra venues.

The owner of Frankie’s at Forde, Mark Ramsay, believes the app has made it much easier for his business to meet their obligations regarding contact tracing under the ACT Public Health Directions.

“The app has been great. We have QR codes on every table and customers can download the app at their tables if they don’t have it,” Mark said.

Prior to the app being introduced, the business had two sign-in options, both at the point of service. The first option was to write details onto a paper sign-in sheet and the second was to log your details on an iPad.

Mark said the Check In CBR app had made the sign-in process a lot less cumbersome and more COVID Safe for all visitors. There is no longer a need for customers to gather at the point of service to sign-in. The business also doesn’t need to worry about storing personal data anymore.

The app allows consumers to securely register their details when attending venues, easing the administrative burden on venue operators in maintaining contact registers and speeding up access to data for contact tracing.

“Customers are happy to jump on board. We get a lot of regulars as we are located in the suburbs and nearly all of them have the app already installed,” Mark said.

The data collected by the app is stored securely with ACT Health in the event that contact tracing is needed due to a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the community.

Mark also found that registering for the app was a simple process. The business had everything they needed to commence using the app within a day or two of registering.

How do I use the app as a customer?

Getting started is simple. Download the Check In CBR app from your phone’s app store and tap ‘get started’ to quickly and securely set up your account.

Once your app is set up, all you need to do is open the app, select 'check in now', scan the QR code and show staff your Green Tick to prove you have checked in.

The Check In CBR app complements the Australian Government’s COVIDSafe app, but doesn’t replace it. Canberrans are still strongly advised to have both apps installed on their devices.

Information is deleted from ACT Health’s records when no longer required (after 28 days).
