Canberra residents now have access to a brand-new Access Canberra Service Centre in Dickson, offering hundreds of ACT Government services in a modern environment.

Located at 480 Northbourne Avenue, the new centre is close to the bus and light rail Dickson Interchange, making it easily accessed by inner north and inner south residents.

Access Canberra’s Executive Branch Manager for Customer Coordination, Chantel Potter, said the new service centre had a fresh, sophisticated feel.

“We brought together services from across the ACT Government to start planning this new service centre many years ago to ensure it was easy to access, modern and diverse in its offering to the community,” she said.

“Customers can access all the services and transactions you have come to expect from Access Canberra as well as the Land Titles Office.

“We are open but reminding customers that over 450 transactions and services can be done online 24/7 or over the phone between 8am to 8pm weekdays.”

The new Dickson Service Centre is compact, and – amid current COVID-19 restrictions – services five customers at a time with nine waiting in a physically-distanced queue outside.

Chantel said the opening of the new Dickson Service Centre, combined with safe operations due to COVID-19, had seen a shuffle in services offered at other locations throughout Canberra.

“Planning services like development applications that were once offered in Dickson have now moved to Mitchell,” she said.

The Building Services Shopfront at Mitchell has been renamed the Land, Planning and Building Services Shopfront.

This shopfront now offers a wide range of services to the construction, building and trades industry, including the administration of development applications and building approval processes, land zoning information, certificates of occupancy or use and compliance certificates, and energy efficiency rating applications amongst many others.

Meanwhile, the Civic Driver licence service is no longer available at Civic library.

This service is now offered online or in any of the other Service Centres including Dickson. These services could no longer be accommodated safely in the Civic space due to COVID-19.

The new Dickson Service Centre is open from 9am to 4pm every day on the ground floor of 480 Northbourne Avenue, with the last customer welcomed at 3:45pm.

The Land, Planning and Building Services Shopfront is located at 8 Darling Street Mitchell.

Access Canberra locations are available online with more than 450 transactions and services also available at act.gov.au/accessCBR or by calling 13 22 81.
