Through the 2022-23 ACT Budget the Government is continuing to deliver now and into the future by investing in Canberra schools, hospitals, local services and infrastructure.

The Inner North, Inner South and City will see several exciting projects get underway over the coming year, enlivening the region and transforming our city centre.

Investing in local youth health services

Almost $3 million over the next two years will be put towards funding better services for people seeking mental health support and drug rehabilitation assistance in the inner north.

The funds will design and plan three new health facilities at the Watson Health Precinct. These will include residential rehabilitation and mental health facilities for young Canberrans, as well as a community-run Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander residential rehabilitation facility.

New theatre coming to the city

A new 2000-seat theatre will form part of a major Canberra Theatre Centre redevelopment.

The existing Canberra Theatre will be renovated and revitalised to support a bigger range of live performances coming to the capital. Sign up for updates.

Infrastructure to support active communities

Watson playground location

A new playground will be built next to Watson's Canberra Technology Park, with funding of $2.6 million over three years to create a great new destination for families in the inner north.

Further funding has been provided to install new LED floodlights at Deakin District Playing Fields and Watson Neighbourhood Oval to improve night-time visibility for players and spectators.

It’s part of a broader program being rolled out across Canberra, with new lights already installed across the city.

Majura Primary School expansion

Majura Primary School

An investment of $39.3 million will go towards modernising and expanding Majura Primary School, upgrading classrooms and building new school facilities to create more student places.

It’s part of the ACT Government’s commitment to ensuring every child has access to a great local public school.
