New southside hydrotherapy pool

The ACT Government has allocated $8.5 million to design and build a new hydrotherapy pool on the southside over the next three years.

The facility will be located next to the Lakeside Leisure Centre.

Tharwa Drive will be made safer and more efficient as part of a 2022-23 ACT Budget commitment.

The funding includes:

  • the design and construction of traffic lights at its intersection with Lawrence Wackett Crescent in Theodore; and
  • the investigation of options at its intersection with Norman Lindsay Street in Conder.

Nearby, safety improvements will also be made at Brindabella and Long Gully Roads.

The upgrades are part of a $24 million investment in improving roads and active travel infrastructure across Canberra and includes support from the Australian Government.

A new Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve visitor centre will be designed as part of an additional $10 million commitment to protecting and restoring the ACT environment.

It's just one of the enhancements coming to Tidbinbilla, with the ACT Government investing in track and trail maintenance across Canberra nature parks following the unprecedented wet weather over the past 12 months.
