Performers celebrate the Lunar New Year

There will be plenty of entertainment at the Lunar New Year Festival in Dickson.

25 January 2022

An outdoor festival celebrating the Lunar New Year will take place in Dickson across three weekends, starting from the end of January.

Dickson’s Woolley Street will be transformed into a kaleidoscope of colours, sounds, tastes and activities to welcome in the Year of the Water Tiger.

The celebrations will include musical performances, dance and martial arts displays and workshops.

Taking place from Thursday 27 January to Monday 31 January (the eve of the Lunar New Year), and then from 3 to 5 February and 10 to 12 February, there are plenty of chances to join in on the fun. Entertainment will be on offer between 6-8pm, and during the day on Saturdays.

Having the festival across three consecutive weekends, as opposed to one big street festival, will increase COVID-safety and help support more small businesses in Dickson.

Highlights of the festival will include music from the ANU Chinese Classical Music Ensemble, Kim Yang, Ding Guili and Lucy Sugerman and performances from Project Beats and Red Cedar Traditional Chinese Dance.
